Proofreading

Well, I was apparently drugged when I made the introduction, so I will be editing the intro of the last magazine soon.

Tuesday, December 26, 2006

This time’s a charm?

I bring you this issue… again. Hopefully, error-free. Probably error-filled.

Argh!

After fixing the second mistake, the first one magically reappeared. Therefore, I must fix the document AGAIN.

Now, perhaps, it is done?

The magazine is corrected and error-free… I hope.

Aw, crud

Well, I found a mistake in the magazine, so I have to make a minor edit. I’ll tell you when I finish.

At Last!

The second issue of the Fire Wolves Magazine has arrived… and only three weeks past deadline.

But don’t worry, ‘cause I’ll have the next one up on time. I won’t procrastinate on it. In fact, I’ll get started on it right away.

Is it My Breath?

Why has there been so little feedback? Recently, I have only recieved feedback from TarnishedZephyr. Now, I know there are more people than that who are visiting my site. So why aren’t you guys commenting? Or joining my forums? Or sending me a message through the contact form? It’s baffling.

Listen, when I don’t recieve any feedback, it feels like I’m talking to a piece of wood (and I don’t mean Plank). It’s kinda uninspiring to feel like nobody’s listening.

So if you would please, I would like you to send me your comments and do so often. I don’t like having one-sided conversations.

Mission Complete

The forums are completely back up. Now to get some people to join it…

The Forums Are Back

Unfortunately, the forums were completely restarted, so they must be rebuilt from scratch. Go ahead and start posting now if you want. I’ll just be setting things up in the background, making the forums good as they were before, perhaps even better.

It May Be Quite a Delay

I must depart to my bed. Because the hosting site is still down, it will probably be at least nine hours before the forum board is back up. It is 1:13 AM in my time zone and I like getting more than five minutes of sleep, Which is a goal I may not achieve if I wait for the hosting site to come back up.

A Bout of About

The “About” page is here. Now to link it to each page. It’s past 1:00 AM in my time zone. Curse my dislike of coffee.

A Bit of a Delay

Well, apparently, the forum host server is down again. I’m about ready to bang my head on the keyboard. Or, more appropriately, bang my keyboard over the hacker’s head.

Anyway, I might be a bit late in reconstructing the forum board as a result. While I am waiting, I’ll be making you an “about” page. You don’t mind that, do you? Didn’t think so.

Forums: the Sequel to the Sequel

Well, apparently the guy who hacked into the forum database managed to completely delete mine, so we must rebuild ours anew. Accordingly:

  • All accounts must be recreated.
  • The freefall game will be started over.
  • All RPs will continue where they left off.

On the bright side, the guy who did this is about to be cleaned dry (as opposed to dry-cleaned) of everything he’s worth in court.

Forum Trouble

Have you ever found yourself carrying a whole bunch of stuff, then you suddenly drop one of those things? You know how it goes. You go to pick up that thing and drop two more in the process; then you go to pick those two things up and you drop another two things while picking those things up…

To my knowledge, that’s basically what happened to the forums. A problem occured, then in fixing that thing, there came another problem, and now the entire coding of the forums seems to be falling down around the hosting site’s staff.

Of course, this is only an educated guess; it may just be the same problem appearing over and over again. Either way, I think I’m about to offer my expertise to them and try to fix the problem myself, ‘cause I’m tired of just sitting around waiting for somebody else to fix the problem.

Hellion has joined the Force!

…I think. I’m not exactly sure. Anyway, this is the famous-ish author of Replica Saga HCO, a webcomic I like that shall soon be put on my links page.

New pages are here!

Things were getting a bit cramped, so we have added to this site a couple of new pages. Namely, the Contact and Q&A pages. Now you don’t have to join the forums just to tell me stuff or ask a question.

Er… Scratch that

Well, the hosting site tried to put ads on my site. Right then and there, I left that place and came back home to the more trustworthy blogger. Anyhoo, I will be making efforts to make this look more like a site than a blog. Minor things, you know.

Also, new forums are up on a different forum host. And these forums don’t have objectionable ads. Three cheers for a new forum!

I’ll get to those cheers eventually.

Friday, December 08, 2006

A blog leads to…

I finally got a free hosting service with no ads or anything. Best of all, I should also be able to host my own forum on it (bye bye, objectionable ads) and many other things. Things are looking up for the Fire Wolves!

No more!

This is it; the last straw. Put simply, the ads on the forum have become to outrageously inappropriate. As of now, the forums are closed. They will soon be re-opened under a different hosting service.

Mystical Creatures in The Ballad of Dreams: Zombies

To make up for the fact that I am a bit late on my magazine, I shall bring you a special report on the zombies of “The Ballad of Dreams”.

Zombies are corpses magically re-animated through the use of dark magic. Zombies have no will of their own and obey only the one who rose them from their graves. They are incapable of feeling anything, emotionally or physically, and can fight even if it is missing a few limbs. However, it does need its brain to retain “life”, thus destroying it is the only non-magical way to kill a zombie. They are also highly sensitive to magic and will die if hit by any powerful offensive magic, though weaker spells will also suffice if cast by a powerful magic-user.

Zombies are able to spread disease and rot by touch. This only works on organic materials, such as animal or plant matter. Contrary to what some may believe, those who are killed by zombies do not become zombies themselves.

A bit of a delay

I am sorry, but the Fire Wolves Magazine may be a bit late.

Ratings Wars

Now in the forums are the “Rate the Above Person’s…” games. Varieties include avatar, signature, location, and class. I also may be adding more “say something about…” games.

What else can I say? They’re games and they’re grrrrrrate!

Over 100 Views

This page has officially been viewed over 100 times. It may not sound like much, but it’s an important step… I think.

The forum problem and how you could help

The forum hosts won’t do anything about it. Looks like if I ever want to have those ads removed, I’ll have to have ALL the ads removed, which means paying them $50. So here are the options:

- We wait until I manage to get the $50. With no allowance and hardly any starting money, that could take a long time.
- One of you hosts the forums instead. If you have your own site, maybe you could lend me a bit of that space? I’m afraid blogger doesn’t allow file uploads, which are necessary for forum boards.
- One of you pays the $50 to get the ads removed. Yeah, like that would ever happen.

Until one of these things happen, I suppose an all-ages forum board is beyond our reach.

Measures are being taken

I am doing all that I can to make spboards.com do all that they can to remove the more offensive ads on the forum board. Perhaps sometime soon, the boards can be safely browsed by a six-year old. Yeah, that’ll be when I invite Cole.

New feature in the forums

I have added the Battle of the Pics to the forums. No, this is not where you go to throw pictures at each-other. This is where you go to put up a picture/drawing that can defeat the previous picture/drawing. Low bandwidth computers be warned: many images will be in this thread.

If you decide to join, may the pic be with you, Luke.

A clarification of the last post

When I said it was getting closer, I did not mean that the ads that the hosting site put on my forums actually have nudity. But they are tip-toeing closer to that.

Monday, November 20, 2006

Somebody willing to help get rid of the ads?

Alright, the “find your mate” ads on the forums are tip-toeing ever-closer to nudity. Can somebody donate $50 so I can get them removed? I will need the donor to do the actual payment to get them removed, because the hosting site only allows payment via credit card or PayPal, both of which I’m pretty sure I’m too young to sign up for.

Or alternatively, maybe one of you readers could host the forums on your site. Of course, I do not realistically expect anyone to offer to do either thing, but I thought it would be worth a shot.

Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger, Smarter, Bloggier!

Alright, here we go. Starting today, this week is the Blog Improvement Week. And I need your help.

I need your suggestions, as well as perhaps a helping hand with coding and stuff like that. To offer the said help, you may do many things. You may utilize the comment system on this blog (click on the “## comments” link), you may e-mail me at Jesse_Hammond@cox.net, or you may go on the forums and go onto the “Blog Improvement” thread in the “General Discussion” forum.

It’s a Hit!

I finally have found a good hit counter for the site; one that does not require an image ad be put with it. Let’s hope this one helps in my attempt to find out how many visits to this site there are.

Why must I procrastinate so?

The next fire wolf magazine is going to need to be done soon and I have barely started. Well, time to get to work.

Phase One Complete

Well, colors are down. Now, let’s see what else I can do…

Redecoration

It is that time once more. Time to redecorate the site. Of course, it may take a moment to complete, so be patient. After I am done, this site will be thanksgivingized.

I hate to say this…

The parent has spoken. I am no longer allowed to have a chat on this blog. However, at least he bothered to give me a good reason. He states that chat runs the risk of things called Zombie-bots, which send viruses, and many other things. So due to safety and mainly parental control, I must remove chat from this site for now.

Third Time’s a charm?

The new chat is up and running. This time, it is completely non-profit. There’s not even a payment option available and they have a .org ending, which are two good reasons for me to trust them. I think this one’s up to stay.

Strike Two

Apparently by “free”, they meant “free as long as you pay us $10/month”. Also, anfy is still nonfunctional. Because of this, I now have to look for yet another means of chat.

Technically, I should be sueing chatfiles.com for false advertising, don’t you agree?

Of course, if one of you want to sue chatfiles.com for this outrage, go right ahead. Maybe it’ll teach them a lesson.

Guest Book

I plan on creating a guest book, which will help me to figure out how many people are visiting. It will be in the form of a form and the results will be submitted via e-mail until I can get a free database hosting service. I have no access to Access, after all. I also plan to add a hit counter. I’ll update when those are done.

More Temporary Than I Thought

Turns out that the ability to kick out users is only available in the commercial version, so we’ll be switching back to AnfyChat when we can.

Tuesday, November 07, 2006

Less-Than-Temporary Solution

Well, it was going to be a temporary fix, but I think the ability to kick people out won me over. From now on, this new applet will be the official applet for chatting purposes.

I will use the ability of kicking out on anyone guilty of harrassing other members of chat. And I do apologize for it being a tiny bit more difficult to change colors in chat, but I think it’s a small sacrifice for a friendly chat, don’t you?

A Temporary Fix

Due to AnfyChat still not working and me not being able to do anything about it, even complain to them, I was forced to install a new mode of chat. I personally like AnfyChat better, but we must do with what we can until AnfyChat finally figures out that their applet is fried and fixes it, which may be quite a wait.

I may not be able to complain to them, but I least I can rant about it here. Technically, that’s what blogs are for anyway.

A bit of a problem with chat

The chat applet appears to be malfunctioning. My first clue was the “invalid bytecode” error; my second, the error on the java console. I do not believe that the problem is one on my end, but rather that it is all AnfyTeam’s fault and that they need to fix it ASAP. After all, the coding on my end is the same coding I was using when it functioned. Also, the class file is hosted on AnfyTeam’s website.

I’m rambling, ain’t I? Suffice to say that I will do whatever I can to get the applet back up and running (which, I reluctantly admit, is very little) and will notify you when it is operational once more. Though I know it’s not quite as instant is instant messaging, you can use the forums in the meantime.

The First Issue is Here

That’s right, folks. The first Fire Wolf Magazine has arrived. There’s a link on the sidebar for it. I do hope you like it and I hope even more that you join the Fire Wolves and help me write the next one. As it states in the introduction, this was exhausting.

Saturday, November 04, 2006

And now, your co-host…

TarnishedZephyr has joined our crew. Now, let us set sail for one piece… of what, I have no idea. Anyway, TarnishedZephyr is now the co-author of the Fire Wolves blog. Let us rejoice.

And let us hope he can pass… the initiation. *Ominous background music* Now, allow me a moment of time to think of a good initiation.

Trash Feast

No, it’s not that. Trash Feast is an event where people pick up trash. This can be done pretty much anywhere that has trash. At the end of the event, food is given out to all the participants.

This is an idea I had. I know that I probably get an F on originality, but I think this is a good idea. I’m considering doing this at my school, which is littered at relentlessly (as are most schools, as I have observed). Do you think this is a good idea? Leave a comment with your opinion or visit the thread in the forums dedicated to it.

Concerning Chat and Forum

You may have noticed that they both have ads on them. Okay, so you definitely have if you visited them. Anyway, those were not my decision. For the chat, it says that I must contact them to get it removed, but I have doubts that that’s all there is to it, don’t you? For the forums, the cost for an ad-free board is $50 a year, the kind of money I don’t have. Until I can get the ads removed, just remember that I do not advise clicking them. And if you do click them, remember that I will not accept any responsibility for what happens as a result, because you can’t say I didn’t warn you.

FabledZero Joined the Force!

Shining Force reference. Anyway, FabledZero has been spotted in chat. Zbud has, too, but I doubt he’ll be coming back.

I do hope to see FabledZero in my chat again, as well as in my forums, which he has yet to visit. I hope Zbud comes back, too, but not much chance of that one.

Time for a Change

Well, Halloween is over. Whether you tricked, treated, or partied down, this non-Halloween-ness is a sad occasion, indeed. I’m afraid it’s also time to take down the Halloween decorations.

But there is good news and it has nothing to do with car insurance. When the time comes, I shall decorate for Thanksgiving. The time is not now, but perhaps soon.

The Forums are Ready!

I have fully prepared the forums for this site. Rojoice again! Yay! Party! Woo!

Of course, they may still have a few empty places, so test it out for me, okay?

EDIT: The link has been deleted

Monday, October 30, 2006

So close to forumness

Now we have not only a chatroom, but a forum as well. Now, the forum is not done, but when it is, I’ll post the link.

More Measures

I am now taking more measures to ensure that this blog has many viewers. They’re not as dinky as the last ones, so they may just work.

We've been linkified!

We’ve been linked to on TarnishedZephyr’s blog! Rejoice!

Sunday, October 29, 2006

So Much for That Plan…

Well, the dinky measures, I guess, were too dinky. So much for subtle. It looks like there’s but one hope for this site. You, the faithful reader, must tell your friends about this blog and have them tell a friend, who will tell a friend. I am doing all that I can to get people to this site. Now it’s up to you. Go forth and claim some visitors!

Minor Measures

Measures are being taken to make more people visit this site. They’re sorta dinky measures, but they’re measures nonetheless and every measure helps.

Seya

As you can see in the picture on the bottom-right, Seya is a fox. She is also bipedal and happens to be a character in a story that will appear in the magazine. I shall tell you nothing more about her, for that would be too much spoileriness.

New Decor

This site has been halloweenized. The colors are rearranged and everything. Now to see what else I can do…

Sneak Preview

This is the “A Word from the Editor” section of the very first Fire Wolf Magazine.

The title says it all. Welcome to the Fire Wolf Magazine! Make yourself at home and enjoy your stay. We have many things to show you, such as the reviews, my story, the news, the story I’m writing… the list just goes on.

During your reading, you may notice that every single article in here was written by me, your lovable host. And man, is that tiring. If you want to help, it would be much appreciated. Just look at the next page for information on how to submit your work.

And a note to you for clarification: I tend to represent myself as a fox in here, even though I am human in real life (or am I?). That is because pictures of animals are much more entertaining than pictures of myself. Or maybe it could be that my favorite animal is the fox (yes, I recognize the irony here). Or perhaps the spirit of a fox is slowly taking over my soul. No, definitely the first two.

Anyway, like I said, have fun reading this magazine. It is a non-profit deal, but tips are appreciated, not that I’m likely to get any.
You can send your comments to me via e-mail or postal mail (see last page for details). You may even get published in the Feedback section (unless you specifically tell me not to do so).

Of course, this is just a rough draft. The final copy may have some notable differences.

Basics set up

Well, I’ve gotten the basic settings done. Now to worry about content. It may not have much now, but by the time I’m done with it, it’s gonna be king of the pirates… er, I mean blogs!

Introduction

Well, this site is devoted to my club, the Fire Wolf Club. This is not to say that it is members only; guests are allowed. In fact, considering how few members with web access I have at the moment, making this a member-only page would be a very lonely experience indeed!

This site is currently under construction. I need to modify the template and a whole bunchof other things before I can consider it complete. Well, as complete as a blog gets, anyway.

Anyhoo, welcome to the Fire Wolf Page. I hope you enjoy your site and bookmark this stay… or something like that.
