Gah?
Sponsored by the Department of Flying Ice Cream Trucks
I am seconds away from adding the arcade mod, which will allow forum users to play free games on there (to my knowledge, no downloads or anything like that). More details to come.
The shop mod is finished. As yet, there are only two items, but I will probably add more later.
That cash mod finally has a purpose. Now you can buy things on the forums with the Gold you collect there. Not products, exactly. In fact, I have yet to figure out what will be for sale. Nothing material, that’s for sure.
Anyway, now I must begin the lengthy task of testing, learning, creating, and stocking the stores, not in that order. Wish me luck!
It turns out that I had to revert the page back to the disabled-not-invisible thing. It turns out that I can’t change the button style without the browser reloading the page (and thus resetting the image).
Well, my computer’s glitching out, so it seems the comics page will stay out of order for quite some time.
Well, I am attempting to make the buttons disappear instead of just disabling themselves, as well as another surprise. Thus, the comics page may be a bit crazy for a while.
The penguins! That’s it! The penguins have been eating my posts, so that’s why they haven’t appeared here.
On another note, yay for TZ’s first posting!
Well, first off, how in the world did karma get deactivated. Don’t worry, though, faithful forumites. When I saw that karma was deactivate, I went “ker-fix” on it.
Also, I finally have a use for that Gold.
[[Since Joat is too busy jumping off the ceiling with joy, I’ll be the one to give you the news. He got the comments working without making a single mistake in the process. Usually, he has to go through it several times before it works. Needless to say, he’s ecstatic, especially since this is the first time he worked with SPANs.]]
Explanitory text will be added under the buttons of the comic strips (okay, so maybe I shouldn’t pluralize that), different text for each comic. The page will be open for public viewing during the time that I am coding it, but don’t be surprised if there are errors on the page.
Well, that took a lot less than thirty minutes to fix. I had a simple variable error and function error. The comic page is available for public viewing once more.
This is the 100th post! Rejoice!
Also, although there is a new comic up, I am sorry to say that the Comic page will be closed until further notice (which should be, oh, 30 minutes, tops) due to button troubles.
I made a comic strip! I made a comic strip! My first attempt at serious art in about nine years was a success! I made a comic strip! I linked to it on the sidebar!
[[Yeah, that’s great, but aren’t you supposed to be working on the magazine right about now?]]
Aargh! Foiled again by reality!
I still like the comic, though.
Can’t sleep… Ice cream trucks will eat me.
Can’t sleep… Ice cream trucks will eat me.
Can’t sleep… Ice cream trucks will eat me.
Can’t sleep… Ice cream trucks will eat me.
[[Er… Joat procrastinated with the magazine again. Sorry.]]
I played goalie in school today and actually managed to block far over half the shots. Of course, the tail for balance probably helped in that.
Seems custom themes and certain premade themes still don’t work on there. I tried creating a test account on there to see if it was just me. Nope. Tried a different browser. Again, no. Looks like the forum hosts still need to work on this glitch.
Yay! This is so great! According to their site news, the forum hosts have added new functions. Namely, a new theme builder that includes custom post icons and (of course) custom color schemes. This should also be the end of the the theme glitch I mentioned a long time ago. I’ll give you an update on that.
[[*Laughs*]]
What’s so funny, Sylver?
[[*Laughter stops* Sorry. You were wagging your tail and I was right behind you and, well, it tickled!]]
If a sayon and a wizard were to fight, what would be the outcome? This question came to me as a classmate and I did a little seated mime-battle when we were supposed to be taking notes. He kept miming Kamehameha blasts as I mimed casting spells with a wand. And thus, the question was born.
An RP based on this question is taking place in the forums here. Sign up and choose a side to fight on.
Now there are two links: One for the game itself and one for the utility required to run it.
This time, the fault is not my own. I have no idea why, but the file still will not work. Apparently, I will have to go with my last resort.
I finally got around to fixing the problem with the Heroes of Chaos game. The game is here and I will update the Links page to match shortly after this post is made.
This link is no ordinary link. Listed under “Fun and Games”, it is a link to a game of my own creation and the executable required to run it. It is far from complete, but you’re free to try out what I have done thus far. Please notify me of any errors.
800 hits! We have 800 hits!
And 800 bruises.
[[Times like this I wish I had a tomato launcher.]]
It wasn’t that bad, was it?
The gold has been given out for what has already been done. I have been awarded a whopping 1128 gold for what I have done in the forums. tarnishedzephyr has been given 60 gold. Fox, who has not posted anything at all yet in the forums, has been given lint and a rubber band.
As yet, the gold has no purpose. Hopefully, it will soon be given a purpose.
[[I wonder if this will help grow the board.]]
That’s the plan, Sylver.
I have completed the setup of the cash mod. Though there may be a few later add-ons, it is officially done.
Now to figure the current GP worth of all the activity already done. *Groan*
The forum hosts have added a new mod. Now you gain “Gold” for making posts. Factors include post length, posts made, threads made, etc.
I have yet to completely set up the cash mod, but I would appreciate it if you would register/login to the forums and test out my progress.
I will give you guys an update when setup is complete. I will give you yet another update when I am finished awarding gold for the things users have already earned. I have a lot of work to do, but it shall be done.
The first question and category (Blogger How-To) have been added. Now the Q&A is no longer blank.
It actually happens to be a very good question, too. It asks how to create a web site in blogger.
My computer is old, so I wish to buy a new computer. Problem is, I have no job (it would interfere too much with school) and my family is broke (which reduces the chances of allowance). Any suggestions?
I can’t believe it! After all this time, I still have the search results saying that the site has its own chatroom. I’ll fix it in a jiff. Sorry for the mixup.
Me and Sylver still cannot seem to decide whether Creeptacular can be a noun. Therefore, we want your opinions. So tell us, faithful reader: is creeptacular a noun as well as an adjective or is it cursed to a life of single-purpose use?
I didn’t post for the entirety of yesterday for some odd reason. Oops.
Creeptacular!
…
Because I told the people at the Maximum Ride blog I’d say that word.
[[I was kinda assuming you’d say it in a sentence.]]
Hush, you creeptacular.
[[“Creeptacular” is an adjective.]]
Who says it can’t be a noun, too? Nobody, that’s who.
[[Yay! I got a new color! This one is better, too. It meshes muchy better with the color scheme of the site, don’t you agree?]]
I updated my profile. Did you know I’m a mad scientist?
[[He’s a crazy-in-a-good-way programmer.]]
Why are you using your old color?
[[Old color?]]
Go check the updated profile and see.
[[Okay!]]
“Sponsored by the Department of Flying Ice Cream Trucks”, who so delicately nudge me in the right direction when I’m late with a magazine. That is, if the hospital is to be considered the right direction.
I’ve decided that I’m gonna change the subtitle about every so often (weekly, roughly) to keep things interesting.
Today, I have eliminated the christmas subtitle, “giving you the gift of site” and replaced it with something more appropriate, which will soon be replaced with something else.
Well, since I was the one in charge of creating it and not he himself, I guess it makes it more of an ameteurfile or something like that. Anyway, on the “About” page, you will find a description of the dragon of the site.
The third magazine is here! And this time, it’s less than three weeks late! Yay!
Now to get to work on the next one, naturally.
The magazine is almost ready. I just need to proofread it (a crucial step I forgot last time) and get it up onto the file host site. Unfortunately, it is too late at night. I must go to bed and revisit the task tomorrow.
I am finally free of that accursed writer’s block, thanks to the musical mallet of inspiration.
Let’s hope I can keep it that way. And remember, folks: any help with the magazine is very much appreciated.
Soon, I might be able to add custom karma buttons in the forums. Also, the style glitch in the forums, which only allows you to select a few of the styles, should soon be fixed.
Along with the broken bones, the ice-cream truck that fell on me because I was (and still am) late with the magazine must have given me brain damage, for until recently, I had forgotten to change the site colors back from christmas colors.
*Moan*
[[What is it? Are your bones still aching from the landing?]]
No. Well, yes. However, the reason I’m moaning is far worse. I have… *shudder* writer’s block.
[[You know your fans are going to hit you a lot harder than the ice cream truck did if you don’t get that magazine done soon, don’t you?]]
Don’t remind me.
Anyway, folks, sorry it’s so late. Working on the Ballad of Dreams, which, as you know, I have a touch of writer’s block on. Sorry again for the delay.
[[Hi! This is Sylver, Joat’s pet robot dog. Joat wants me to tell you that he may be a tad late with the magazine. He’d tell you himself, but he can’t come. I don’t know how, but all his bones are broken and he smells like ice cream. Weird.]]
That’s exactly what it is. I must create the magazine by the end of this day, because I said that I would.
And if I do not finish, let me be struck by a flying ice cream truck and live.
Well, it looks like this issue will be in on time. Yay! Anyway, I haven’t been posting lately, but I will be. I will try my best to give you something to read, lest my site become boring.
Well, I was apparently drugged when I made the introduction, so I will be editing the intro of the last magazine soon.
After fixing the second mistake, the first one magically reappeared. Therefore, I must fix the document AGAIN.
Well, I found a mistake in the magazine, so I have to make a minor edit. I’ll tell you when I finish.
The second issue of the Fire Wolves Magazine has arrived… and only three weeks past deadline.
But don’t worry, ‘cause I’ll have the next one up on time. I won’t procrastinate on it. In fact, I’ll get started on it right away.
Why has there been so little feedback? Recently, I have only recieved feedback from TarnishedZephyr. Now, I know there are more people than that who are visiting my site. So why aren’t you guys commenting? Or joining my forums? Or sending me a message through the contact form? It’s baffling.
Listen, when I don’t recieve any feedback, it feels like I’m talking to a piece of wood (and I don’t mean Plank). It’s kinda uninspiring to feel like nobody’s listening.
So if you would please, I would like you to send me your comments and do so often. I don’t like having one-sided conversations.
Unfortunately, the forums were completely restarted, so they must be rebuilt from scratch. Go ahead and start posting now if you want. I’ll just be setting things up in the background, making the forums good as they were before, perhaps even better.
I must depart to my bed. Because the hosting site is still down, it will probably be at least nine hours before the forum board is back up. It is 1:13 AM in my time zone and I like getting more than five minutes of sleep, Which is a goal I may not achieve if I wait for the hosting site to come back up.
The “About” page is here. Now to link it to each page. It’s past 1:00 AM in my time zone. Curse my dislike of coffee.
Well, apparently, the forum host server is down again. I’m about ready to bang my head on the keyboard. Or, more appropriately, bang my keyboard over the hacker’s head.
Anyway, I might be a bit late in reconstructing the forum board as a result. While I am waiting, I’ll be making you an “about” page. You don’t mind that, do you? Didn’t think so.
Well, apparently the guy who hacked into the forum database managed to completely delete mine, so we must rebuild ours anew. Accordingly:
On the bright side, the guy who did this is about to be cleaned dry (as opposed to dry-cleaned) of everything he’s worth in court.
Have you ever found yourself carrying a whole bunch of stuff, then you suddenly drop one of those things? You know how it goes. You go to pick up that thing and drop two more in the process; then you go to pick those two things up and you drop another two things while picking those things up…
To my knowledge, that’s basically what happened to the forums. A problem occured, then in fixing that thing, there came another problem, and now the entire coding of the forums seems to be falling down around the hosting site’s staff.
Of course, this is only an educated guess; it may just be the same problem appearing over and over again. Either way, I think I’m about to offer my expertise to them and try to fix the problem myself, ‘cause I’m tired of just sitting around waiting for somebody else to fix the problem.
…I think. I’m not exactly sure. Anyway, this is the famous-ish author of Replica Saga HCO, a webcomic I like that shall soon be put on my links page.
Things were getting a bit cramped, so we have added to this site a couple of new pages. Namely, the Contact and Q&A pages. Now you don’t have to join the forums just to tell me stuff or ask a question.
Well, the hosting site tried to put ads on my site. Right then and there, I left that place and came back home to the more trustworthy blogger. Anyhoo, I will be making efforts to make this look more like a site than a blog. Minor things, you know.
Also, new forums are up on a different forum host. And these forums don’t have objectionable ads. Three cheers for a new forum!
…
I’ll get to those cheers eventually.
I finally got a free hosting service with no ads or anything. Best of all, I should also be able to host my own forum on it (bye bye, objectionable ads) and many other things. Things are looking up for the Fire Wolves!
This is it; the last straw. Put simply, the ads on the forum have become to outrageously inappropriate. As of now, the forums are closed. They will soon be re-opened under a different hosting service.
To make up for the fact that I am a bit late on my magazine, I shall bring you a special report on the zombies of “The Ballad of Dreams”.
Zombies are corpses magically re-animated through the use of dark magic. Zombies have no will of their own and obey only the one who rose them from their graves. They are incapable of feeling anything, emotionally or physically, and can fight even if it is missing a few limbs. However, it does need its brain to retain “life”, thus destroying it is the only non-magical way to kill a zombie. They are also highly sensitive to magic and will die if hit by any powerful offensive magic, though weaker spells will also suffice if cast by a powerful magic-user.
Zombies are able to spread disease and rot by touch. This only works on organic materials, such as animal or plant matter. Contrary to what some may believe, those who are killed by zombies do not become zombies themselves.
Now in the forums are the “Rate the Above Person’s…” games. Varieties include avatar, signature, location, and class. I also may be adding more “say something about…” games.
What else can I say? They’re games and they’re grrrrrrate!
This page has officially been viewed over 100 times. It may not sound like much, but it’s an important step… I think.
The forum hosts won’t do anything about it. Looks like if I ever want to have those ads removed, I’ll have to have ALL the ads removed, which means paying them $50. So here are the options:
- We wait until I manage to get the $50. With no allowance and hardly any starting money, that could take a long time.
- One of you hosts the forums instead. If you have your own site, maybe you could lend me a bit of that space? I’m afraid blogger doesn’t allow file uploads, which are necessary for forum boards.
- One of you pays the $50 to get the ads removed. Yeah, like that would ever happen.
Until one of these things happen, I suppose an all-ages forum board is beyond our reach.
I am doing all that I can to make spboards.com do all that they can to remove the more offensive ads on the forum board. Perhaps sometime soon, the boards can be safely browsed by a six-year old. Yeah, that’ll be when I invite Cole.
I have added the Battle of the Pics to the forums. No, this is not where you go to throw pictures at each-other. This is where you go to put up a picture/drawing that can defeat the previous picture/drawing. Low bandwidth computers be warned: many images will be in this thread.
If you decide to join, may the pic be with you, Luke.
When I said it was getting closer, I did not mean that the ads that the hosting site put on my forums actually have nudity. But they are tip-toeing closer to that.
Alright, the “find your mate” ads on the forums are tip-toeing ever-closer to nudity. Can somebody donate $50 so I can get them removed? I will need the donor to do the actual payment to get them removed, because the hosting site only allows payment via credit card or PayPal, both of which I’m pretty sure I’m too young to sign up for.
Or alternatively, maybe one of you readers could host the forums on your site. Of course, I do not realistically expect anyone to offer to do either thing, but I thought it would be worth a shot.
Alright, here we go. Starting today, this week is the Blog Improvement Week. And I need your help.
I need your suggestions, as well as perhaps a helping hand with coding and stuff like that. To offer the said help, you may do many things. You may utilize the comment system on this blog (click on the “## comments” link), you may e-mail me at Jesse_Hammond@cox.net, or you may go on the forums and go onto the “Blog Improvement” thread in the “General Discussion” forum.
I finally have found a good hit counter for the site; one that does not require an image ad be put with it. Let’s hope this one helps in my attempt to find out how many visits to this site there are.
The next fire wolf magazine is going to need to be done soon and I have barely started. Well, time to get to work.
It is that time once more. Time to redecorate the site. Of course, it may take a moment to complete, so be patient. After I am done, this site will be thanksgivingized.
The parent has spoken. I am no longer allowed to have a chat on this blog. However, at least he bothered to give me a good reason. He states that chat runs the risk of things called Zombie-bots, which send viruses, and many other things. So due to safety and mainly parental control, I must remove chat from this site for now.
The new chat is up and running. This time, it is completely non-profit. There’s not even a payment option available and they have a .org ending, which are two good reasons for me to trust them. I think this one’s up to stay.
Apparently by “free”, they meant “free as long as you pay us $10/month”. Also, anfy is still nonfunctional. Because of this, I now have to look for yet another means of chat.
Technically, I should be sueing chatfiles.com for false advertising, don’t you agree?
Of course, if one of you want to sue chatfiles.com for this outrage, go right ahead. Maybe it’ll teach them a lesson.
I plan on creating a guest book, which will help me to figure out how many people are visiting. It will be in the form of a form and the results will be submitted via e-mail until I can get a free database hosting service. I have no access to Access, after all. I also plan to add a hit counter. I’ll update when those are done.
Turns out that the ability to kick out users is only available in the commercial version, so we’ll be switching back to AnfyChat when we can.
Well, it was going to be a temporary fix, but I think the ability to kick people out won me over. From now on, this new applet will be the official applet for chatting purposes.
I will use the ability of kicking out on anyone guilty of harrassing other members of chat. And I do apologize for it being a tiny bit more difficult to change colors in chat, but I think it’s a small sacrifice for a friendly chat, don’t you?
Due to AnfyChat still not working and me not being able to do anything about it, even complain to them, I was forced to install a new mode of chat. I personally like AnfyChat better, but we must do with what we can until AnfyChat finally figures out that their applet is fried and fixes it, which may be quite a wait.
I may not be able to complain to them, but I least I can rant about it here. Technically, that’s what blogs are for anyway.
The chat applet appears to be malfunctioning. My first clue was the “invalid bytecode” error; my second, the error on the java console. I do not believe that the problem is one on my end, but rather that it is all AnfyTeam’s fault and that they need to fix it ASAP. After all, the coding on my end is the same coding I was using when it functioned. Also, the class file is hosted on AnfyTeam’s website.
I’m rambling, ain’t I? Suffice to say that I will do whatever I can to get the applet back up and running (which, I reluctantly admit, is very little) and will notify you when it is operational once more. Though I know it’s not quite as instant is instant messaging, you can use the forums in the meantime.
That’s right, folks. The first Fire Wolf Magazine has arrived. There’s a link on the sidebar for it. I do hope you like it and I hope even more that you join the Fire Wolves and help me write the next one. As it states in the introduction, this was exhausting.
TarnishedZephyr has joined our crew. Now, let us set sail for one piece… of what, I have no idea. Anyway, TarnishedZephyr is now the co-author of the Fire Wolves blog. Let us rejoice.
And let us hope he can pass… the initiation. *Ominous background music* Now, allow me a moment of time to think of a good initiation.
No, it’s not that. Trash Feast is an event where people pick up trash. This can be done pretty much anywhere that has trash. At the end of the event, food is given out to all the participants.
This is an idea I had. I know that I probably get an F on originality, but I think this is a good idea. I’m considering doing this at my school, which is littered at relentlessly (as are most schools, as I have observed). Do you think this is a good idea? Leave a comment with your opinion or visit the thread in the forums dedicated to it.
You may have noticed that they both have ads on them. Okay, so you definitely have if you visited them. Anyway, those were not my decision. For the chat, it says that I must contact them to get it removed, but I have doubts that that’s all there is to it, don’t you? For the forums, the cost for an ad-free board is $50 a year, the kind of money I don’t have. Until I can get the ads removed, just remember that I do not advise clicking them. And if you do click them, remember that I will not accept any responsibility for what happens as a result, because you can’t say I didn’t warn you.
